Respite for Mikel as Chelsea plan Spaniard exit
Chelsea’s move to offload former Arsenal to Juventus will come as a big relief to Nigeria’s John Obi Mikel as competition for midfield role at Stamford Bridge stiffens.
Reports from Italy suggest Chelsea have apparently offered Fabregas to Juventus after refusing to sell give Nemanja Matic.
The Bianconeri are known to be looking for one or potentially two quality midfielders in order to refresh their roster after the exit of Paul Pogba to Manchester United.
Matic was one of a number of targets for the Bianconeri, but Blues Coach Antonio Conte opposed the move ferociously and is believed to have convinced the player to stay.
Tuttosport believe that in exchange he has offered his former club the services of Spanish 29-year-old Fabregas.
Although not the Old Lady’s first choice, the Roja representative is hardly a second-rate player, and would cost up to €45m when you factor in his €7m yearly wages.
