Petroleum, power stakeholders set for NAEC conference
Major
stakeholders in the power and oil and gas industries, including the
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, and his
counterpart in Power, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, will be chatting the way
forward for the economy at the forthcoming National Association of
Energy Correspondents (NAEC) Annual Conference.
Captains
of industries and other stakeholders in these sectors, including
International Oil Companies (IOCs), downstream oil and gas operators,
independent producers and owners of power assets, among others, are
equally expected to brainstorm on the challenges to the sectors and the
way forward.
These
will discuss ways of attracting investments into the nation’s oil and
gas sector, mindful of the impacts of low oil price on Nigeria’s
economy, as well as lasting solutions to the gas-to-power challenges.
Slated
for August 18, 2016 at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, the conference,
with the theme, “Low Oil Price: Impacts and the Way Forward,” will
focus on how to attract investment to the nation’s oil and gas sector,
with emphasis on the challenges and opportunities in the gas-to-power
drive.
To
give the keynote address and present the lead paper is the Group
Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC),
Dr. Maikanti Baru. Kachikwu will deliver the goodwill message, while
Fashola will be the guest speaker.
A
statement by the NAEC General Secretary, Mr. Tunde Dodondawa, listed
the confirmed speakers as the Managing Director, Chevron Nigeria
Limited, Mr Clay Neff, Chairman of Major Oil Marketers Association of
Nigeria (MOMAN), Mr. Akin Akinfemiwa, and Chief Executive Officer of
Financial Derivatives Company Limited, Mr. Bismarck Rewane.
