Messi will rescind retirement decision – Romero

Argentina goalkeeper Sergio Romero believes Lionel Messi will reverse his decision to retire from international football.
Messi who is yet to win a major tournament with his country announced his retirement from international football after losing a back to back Copa America final defeat to Chile on Sunday, recording a third Copa finals loss and one World Cup final.

The Ballon d’Or winner said international football is ‘not for him’ after blazing over from the spot in the shootout defeat to Chile but national team mate, Romero feels the five time World Footballer of the Year is just upset.
“I think he spoke in the heat of the moment because a beautiful opportunity escaped us. I can’t imagine a national team without Messi. I think he’ll reflect on it.” The Manchester United goalkeeper Romero said as quoted on AOL.
The Barcelona man who clinched Olympic Gold with Argentina in Beijing in 2008 was unable to end his country’s 23-year wait for a Fifa recognized title despite recording tremendous successes at club level where he has won four Champions League titles, eight La Liga crowns and several individual titles.
Messi is Argentina’s leading goalscorer with 55 international goals in 113 appearances.
