How I survived Obasanjo's attacks - Atiku
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has revealed that it was the
dexterity of his media office that helped him to survive plots by his
then estranged boss, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, to “exterminate” him.
Atiku therefore urged the Nigerian media to continue to remain
resolute in disseminating the truth, stressing that it has become more
obvious in support of the democratic dispensation.
The former vice president, who spoke in Abuja on Thursday at the 10th
anniversary of the Atiku Media Office, explained that he incurred the
wrath of his former boss for speaking against the Third Term Agenda of
Obasanjo.
He said his support for the rule of law, entrenchment of democratic
principles and other irreconcilable differences, pitched him against
his boss.
Atiku explained that his media office firmly countered information
churned out against him, stressing that were it not for the resolute
manner the office responded to every propaganda and lies against him,
he may not have made it till now.
Represented by the Head of the Atiku Media Office, Mazi Paul Ibe, the
Turakin Adamawa noted that his resolve to setup the office was
propelled by the crises he faced as Vice President.
