Enugu State Government set to renovate 300 schools
Enugu State Government says it has concluded plans to institute uniform curriculum for all levels of its education sector.
The state has also set machineries in motion for the
renovation/reconstruction of 300 primary and secondary schools in parts
of the state as another way of boosting the sector.
The state Commissioner for Information, Dr Godwin Udeuhele, announced
this while briefing newsmen after the Executive Council meeting at the
Government House in Enugu.
He stated that government took the decision following the poor
performance of pupils and students in schools in recent times.
He noted that with this approval, more than three hundred secondary and
primary schools in the state would be renovated/constructed to ensure a
good teaching and learning environment for the children.
According to him, the Exco had also approved a memorandum on the urgent
need for monitoring the performances of teachers and their pupils to
measure their achievements in public schools as a way of
improving the standard of education in the state.
