Dambazau tasks new Prisons, Immigration bosses on service delivery
The Minister of Interior, Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) has
charged the newly-appointed Comptrollers-Generals of Immigration and
Prisons to ensure professionalism and efficient service delivery in
discharging their duties as they take over the mantles of leadership in
their various services.
Dambazau gave the charge on Wednesday in Abuja while decorating the
newly-appointed Comptroller- General of the Nigeria Immigration Service
(NIS), Mr. Mohammed Babandede, and his counterpart Mr. Ahmed Ja’afaru
of the Nigerian Prisons Service.
President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the appointment of both Service Chiefs after the retirement of their predecessors.
The minister specifically charged the new NIS boss to expedite action
on the delay in the issuance of passports to Nigerians and ensure
general professionalism in the service.
He also tasked the new NPS boss on the need to fast-track the prisons’
decongestion process while ensuring better training and welfare for
prison officials.
