Mass defection looms in Plateau APC
The Plateau State chapter of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP) yesterday said it is expecting mass defection of its former
members from the All Progressives Party (APC) in the coming months.
This was disclosed by the Chairman of the party in the state, Hon Damishi Sango, in a chat with journalists in Jos.
Sango said the widening crack within the APC and the widespread
discontent from Plateau people over the inability of the government to
meet their development aspirations had forced those in government to
indicate the intention to return to their former party.
“Our people have waited one year plus now to be fed with excuses. They
can no longer take excuses from the party that promised solutions.
“Within the APC, there is growing discontent. The party is alienating
members, most of whom, have no idea where the governor and the party
structures are heading to.
“So, we are having pressure to accept people who are already making
indications. We are making arrangements to formally receive them. Our
doors are always open”, he assured.
He said with three senators, six out of eight House of Representatives
members and 10 out of 23 House of Assembly members, PDP remains intact
in the state.
“This means the APC government of Simon Lalong cannot excite anybody to join him in that party”, he stressed.
