Onitsha chamber advises Buhari on economic recovery
The Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture
(ONICCIMA) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to evolve new economic
policies to stimulate economic recovery and enhance welfare of
Nigerians.
The President of ONICCIMA, Mr Uchenna Akpakama, gave the advice in an
interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Onitsha.
Akpakama said that the slow pace of the implementation of the 2016
Budget has become a source of concern to the Organised Private Sector
(OPS).
He said the proposed executive bill on state of emergency in the power
sector should be sent to the National Assembly for quick recovery of the
economy.
“If Buhari needs special approval from the National Assembly, I don’t
see anything wrong in that so far it is within the ambit of the law”, he
said.
According to him, the organised private sector has been the hardest hit by the economic recession now ravaging the country.
