Injury news: Iwobi woe for Arsenal
Super Eagles and Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi is set for a month on the sidelines after injuring his hip last Sunday to add to Arsenal’s growing injury list.
The Nigerian international who was gutted with the Gunners’ poor start to the season was forced off during the opening day Premier League 4-3 home defeat to Liverpool and will now miss at least two games.
According to SunSport, it is now likely to miss the next two Premier League games away at Leicester and Watford, although the two-week international break that follows is likely to allow him time to be fit to face Southampton at The Emirates on September 10.
It comes as yet another blow to boss Arsene Wenger, who will be without midfielder Aaron Ramsey for a month after he also came off injured against Liverpool, with a hamstring injury ensuring he will be absent for Wales’ first World Cup qualifier against Moldova on September 5.
The Gunners are ravaged by injuries at the moment – with the heart of their defence ripped out through the losses of Per Mertesacker and Gabriel.
Wenger has been reluctant to rush back Laurent Koscielny after his run to the Euro 2016 final, resting him for the defeat to Reds with a decision that appeared to backfire.
