Alex Iwobi makes Premier League record

Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi has made the list of the ‘class of 2015-16’ for homegrown debuts in what was a record-breaking season.
A total of 67 homegrown players made their debuts in the Premier League last season, a record since the launch of the Elite Player Performance Plan four years ago.
The Nigeria international is one of those 67 homegrown players to make their debuts last season, and he has awarded a framed composite image of all 67 homegrown players who made their debuts last season.

The 20-year old made his Premier League bow for the Gunners in a 3-0 win over Swansea last October, and has gone on to be an integral member of the squad.
Iwobi is however not the only player with Nigerian heritage to have made the list.
Players on the list also with Nigerian heritage include; Fikayo Tomori (Chelsea); Sheyi Ojo (Liverpool) and Ikechi Anya (Watford).
All the homegrown players on the list were also given personalized engraved casings containing a Premier League match ball from last season, detailing their debut day.
The number from last season was a 24 per cent increase on the 2014-15 campaign, significantly helped by Bournemouth’s list of 15 debutants.
