We don’t fear Ronaldo – Wales boasts

Wales captain Ashley Williams has said they will not obsess over how to contain Cristiano Ronaldo, vowing to nullify all Portugal’s dangers as a collective.
Williams admitted Ronaldo is one of the world’s greats but said the side would handle the absence of Ben Davies through suspension with all members of the squad ready to step up.
Much has been made of Ronaldo’s threat but Williams appeared in confident mood ahead of the biggest game in Wales’ history and said: ‘He is one of the greatest players in the world, but they have other weapons in their team.

“We are not obsessing over that. We’ll try and nullify them as a team, as we have all tournament.”
Davies is out after picking up a second yellow card of the tournament against Belgium and Chris Coleman will choose either James Collins or Jazz Richards in his place. Aaron Ramsey is also banned with Andy King set to come in.
“The strength is in the squad, not just the team, the 23 men,’ said Williams. ‘Whoever the gaffer picks will do the job. We’re disappointed for them, but it gives two others a chance to experience the Euros. They’ll fill the slots as good as the boys who went out.’
On the eve of such an important game, Williams also paid an emotional tribute to Gary Speed. ‘I was thinking about him on the plane coming over,’ said the Swansea defender. ‘I was reading Chris Wathan’s book (Together Stronger) and it brought it back to me.
“My thought coming in was I hope he’d be proud of us. He saw us grow up, and what we’ve achieved today. He’s always in the back of our minds. When we achieve something, we think about him.”
