“I want to return my share of Dasukigate”
The immediate past National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh has begged EFCC.
His please came on Thursday (30th June, 2016) as he stated he was ready and willing to return his share of Dasukigate.
Olisa Metuh got N400million out of the $2.1billion cash earmarked for arms purchase.
The money was ostensibly sidetracked for political purposes by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The entire cash largess and official graft happened under the tenure of ex-National Security Adviser, Colonel Dasuki Sambo, rtd.
Metuh, who has been on trial in the past few months, said he has had enough of legal travails.
He stated that he had entered into a plea bargain with the Ministry of Justice, the EFCC and other concerned bodies bodies on how to refund the money and resolve the issue amicably.
Olisa Metuh came up with the plea bargain through his legal counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN).
According to him, although the cash was released to him by former President Goodluck Jonathan, he was not aware of the source as at the time.
He said since the EFCC presented a document on the source of the money in court, he had made up his mind to willingly refund the N400million.
Hear him: “It was however while in court that a document was brought regarding the source of the money.
“Since then, our Client has made manifest his willingness to refund the money and has indeed approached his family, friends and associates to mobilize funds.
“He plans to refund the entire N400 million to the government regardless of the fact that the money had been expended based on the directives of the former President.
“However, part of the money had been recovered from one of the prosecution witnesses,” his legal counsel stated.
