France 5–2 Iceland: Perfect Les Bleus hit semifinals

France ended the run of Iceland at the Euro 2016 with a comprehensive 5-2 win in the last quarter-final match of the ongoing Euro 216 to set up a mouth-watering clash against World Champions Germany.
The Euro 2016 were forced to make two changes to their starting line-up due to the suspension of N’Golo Kante and Adil Rami as manager Didier Deschamps gave the nod to Moussa Sissoko and handed a debut to Samuel Umtiti who just signed for Barcelona.

That move allowed Paul Pogba revert his preferred central midfield and that worked really well as the hosts dominated possession and it was not long for them to take the lead when Olivier Giroud finished off a well-timed pass from Blaise Matuidi.
The Arsenal man continued his remarkable scoring run for France as the goal made it nine out of nine starts for Les Blues and the first time they’ve scored in the first half of the Euro 2016 tournament.

France ramped up the ante with a second goal as Juventus midfielder Pogba header in from an Antoine Griezmann corner to make it 2-0.
The Atletico Madrid forward again provided another assist as he laid off a swift past for Payet who controlled with his right before blasting a right foot shot past film director Hannes Halldórsson in goal for Iceland and just before half-time Griezmann completed it 4-0 with a deft chip over the goalkeeper after he was played in by Giroud.

Iceland began the second half better and striker Kolbeinn Sigthórsson stabbed home past Hugo Lloris for his second goal of the tournament from a world-class Gylfi Sigurdsson cross but France were determined to kill any hope for a comeback as Giroud grabbed his second for the night to make it 5-1.

 The minnows produced a late rally as they tried to finish on a high but got just a goal via Birkir Bjarnason who was unmarked inside the penalty box and connected Ari Skúlason’s far-post cross to head home as the game ended 5-2.
