Breaking! Ex-Governor sentenced to Kuje prison

A Federal High Court in Abuja has remanded a former Governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri, in Kuje prsions till next month.
Umaru Fintiri was sworn into office as the new acting governor after the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako.
Governor Nyako’s deputy (Bala Ngilari) resigned along with him paving way for the then speaker of the State house of Assembly, Fintiri, to run the affairs of the State.
On assumption of office, Fintiri went on a spending spree. He awarded contracts to proxies and a company believed to be owned by Fintiri.

The EFCC picked him up and is prosecuting him on alleged accusations of money laundering and official graft.
The EFCC arraigned Fintiri along with Mayim Constructions and Properties Limited (the second defendant). ‎
In a five count charged slammed on Fintiri and Mayim constructions, the accused persons pleaded not guilty. Thereafter, the presiding judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed, gave an order to have Fintiri remanded in prison.
Shortly after Fintiri pleaded not guilty to all the charges, the court heard his bail application but delayed the hearing till Friday to deliver its ruling on it.
Justice Mohammed directed that the former acting governor be remanded in Kuje prison pending when the court would deliver ruling on his bail application.
