We're ready for Niger Delta Avengers in Lagos - Police
Lagos State Police Command has described alleged rumoured attack on
Lagos as a ruse, arguing that police and other sister agencies in the
state are battle-ready to adequately crush any security threat
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, while fielding
reporters’ questions said the miliitary, Department of State Security
Services (DSS) and other relevant agencies are working round the clock
to ensure a secure Lagos, maintaining that they are on top of the game.
Owoseni, who paraded over 30 suspects including rapists, armed
robbery suspects, car snatchers and rounded-up in the last one week,
affirmed that murder cases are on the increase in the state.
Citing several instances of how a drunken husband slit the throat of
his dear wife at Oshodi and brothers killing themselves over torch
light, the Chief said the command is worried about such crimes.
However The AUTHORITY gathered that the renewed Niger Delta militants
which had claimed responsibilities for recent attacks on pipelines in
the area has vowed to attack a police station at Ikorodu as well as the
Third Mainland Bridge.
The AUTHORITY further gathered that the Marine Unit of the Force is not
taking chances as it has deployed plain clothe detectives across the
coastal waters to forestall any breach.
An impeccable source said the Marine Police had conducted a mock
operation to prepare its men on the physical and mental alertness of
such challenge.
There was unconfirmed rumour at the weekend that the militant would
strike in commercial nerve centre to further make a bold statement
about their agitation.
