Transfer News: Atletico complete Gaitan signing

2015/16 UEFA Champions League runners up Atletico Madrid have completed the signing of Argentina midfielder Nicolas Gaitan from Benfica in a deal reportedly worth 25m euros.
Atletico Madrid says it has reached a deal with Benfica to sign the Argentine who is currently with Argentina at the Copa America. The 28-year old is expected to travel from the United States to Spain after the tournament to finalize his transfer.

“Atletico Madrid and Benfica have reached an agreement for the transfer of Nicolas Gaitan to his new team,” said a statement from Atletico.
Gaitan played two seasons with Argentine club Boca Juniors before signing with Benfica in 2010. He played 252 matches with the Portuguese club, scoring 41 goals.
Gaitan has 15 made appearances with Argentina’s national team, scoring two goals.
Atletico, led by Argentine coach Diego Simeone, was third in the Spanish league and reached the Champions League final, losing to Real Madrid for the second time in three seasons.
