NPFL: We will match Kano Pillars across board – Rangers boss

Rangers handler, Imama Amapakabo, says he has put behind the euphoria of his side’s win over Heartland FC last weekend to focus on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) midweek home against Kano Pillars.
Amapakabo, whose side are seeking to end more than three decades without a major silverware, told npfl.ng that he is switching focus to the match day 21 date with Pillars.
“The job is done in Owerri. Our focus now is on the game at home to Kano Pillars. Pillars is a great side, with lots of quality and experience. We are aware of the quality on the side, and we will match them across board,” Amapakabo said.

The former Enyimba coach further dismissed claims that his players are fatigued but gave hints of a possible return of key defender, Ousmane Pape Sane, for the visit of the ‘Sai Masu Gida.’
“The squad is in good shape. There is no issues of fatigue. We expect Pape Ousmane to return to the team for the midweek clash. He did not play any part in the win against Heartland, courtesy of the injury he picked in Maiduguri.
“Every player has a crucial role to play in the team. The players are as important as the game itself. My players are very committed and they give out their best at any time. The approach against Heartland was quite unique, and it worked effectively,” he told the NPFL official website.
Chisom Egbuchulam scored from the spot to earn Rangers the win at the Dan Anyam Stadium on Sunday. The hosts, took the lead earlier on the 12th minute through a Julius Ubido free kick, before Chinedu Udeagha equalized five minutes later.
Rangers engage Kano Pillars at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Wednesday. Both sides are level on same points (32), but Pillars are in third place owing to a superior goal advantage. Pillars won the reverse fixture 2-1 in Kano, with new signing Prince Aggreh grabbing the winner in added time, on his debut.
