NGO donates N5m roofing materials to IDPs
In efforts to ensure early resettlement of the over five thousand
displaced persons in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State
following attacks on its communities by suspected Fulani herdsmen, a
non-governmental organisation known as The TY Danjuma Foundation (TYDF)
today donated roofing materials worth N5 million to Agatu IDPs.
The AUTHORITY gathered that the donation was made by the Team Leader, Mr Gima Forje on behalf of TYDF.
Presenting the materials, Forje informed that the donation was in
fulfilment of the foundation’s promise to the ravaged areas during its
assessment tour of the communities in May this year.
He informed further that, during the foundation’s assessment tour, it
held meetings with relevant stakeholders in the area, stressing that
it was from there that what the area needed most was arrived at.
“We carried out an assessment visit to the area, held discussions with
members of the community, the Local Government Chairman and community
leaders.
“The report of the assessment determined the type of intervention the foundation has provided,” he said.
The team leader stressed that the donation was aimed at cushioning the
effect of the attacks, urging that the materials should be used for the
sole purpose they are meant for.
