National Assembly plans own Budget Office
The House of Representatives yesterday considered and adopted the
report of its Committee on Budget and Legislative Research on a Bill
for the establishment of the National Assembly Budget and Research
Office (NABRO).
According to the report, NABRO would provide objective, timely and
non-partisan analysis needed for economic and budget decisions.
The chairman of the committee, Hon. Timothy Golu (PDP, Plateau) told
the House that NABRO would scale up legislative budgetary process and
adequate legislative interventions to add value to the budgeting
process in the country.
While commending the House for considering and adopting the report,
Golu said when established, NABRO would go a long way in correcting the
lapses being experienced in the budgeting process.
Having adopted the report on the Bill preparatory to its Third Reading
on the floor of the House for its passage into law, and on concurrence
by the Senate, it would be forwarded to President Muhammadu Buhari for
his assent.
