Messi makes N14.7m donation to Charity after court victory

Barcelona’s Argentinian forward Lionel Messi touches hearts again
Soccer legend, Lionel Messi has demonstrated his philanthropic attributes yet again as he donated just under €65,000 worth of damages to charity after winning a defamation case against Argentinean newspaper La Razon.
As ruled by the court, journalist Alfonso Ussia was too extreme in an article written in the wake of Argentina’s loss to Germany in the 2014 FIFA World Cup final where he heavily castigated Messi.
In the controversial article,  Ussia had made claims that Messi wore a wig and was a user of the performance-enhancing drug Nandrolone.

The scathing attacks on the person of Messi was  deemed “unnecessary and impertinent” by a Barcelona court, and as such the publication was ordered to pay the aforementioned sum to Messi, per Maylon.
Interestingly however , Messi’s management company has since revealed that the money recouped by the player has been donated to the Medecins sans Frontieres charity.
The Barcelona forward led Argentina till the finals in Brazil but hard as he tried he was unable to get his country the elusive third World Cup win.
