Gunmen behead ex-councillor in Rivers
Gunmen on Tuesday beheaded a former councillor representing Ward 1 in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The AUTHORITY learnt that the victim, Mr. Kipe Morris, popularly called
“Alaska” was on a motorcycle from Emilaghan to Ahoada yesterday
morning when some armed men suspected to be cultists accosted him at
Okubo community in Abua, dragged him down and attacked him with
dangerous weapons.
A source said that Alaska hailed from Emilaghan community, adding
that, “We were together on Monday at the Appeal Court in Port Harcourt
over the dismissed elected councillors’ matters, later that evening he
left for the village for an important family engagement. I believe his
killing is politically-motivated.”
He said that the victim was among the dismissed elected councillors in 2015.
Further investigation revealed that the victim who recently got married, is survived by his pregnant wife.
