De Gea ready for Man Utd stay despite Madrid interest
David de Gea has expressed his desire to stay at Manchester United despite renewed interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The 25-year-old was on the verge of joining the UEFA Champions League winners last summer but the deal broke down in transfer deadline day following as the proposed contract was reportedly eaten by a faulty fax machine.
Old Trafford fans were delighted he stayed with the club as he helped them win the FA Cup and voted Manchester United’s Player of the season for the third consecutive time.
“I know nothing about Madrid wanting to sign me. I’m calm. I have three more years in Manchester,” De Gea told Cadena Ser as prepares for Euro 2016, which kicks off in France on Friday.
“United have given me everything. Now I’m just concentrating on the Euros and to be with the national team.
“I’m at a big club, which gives me love every day.
“I’m very grateful for Manchester United and I’m very happy there.”
De Gea is currently at the Euro 2016 with the Spanish national team and will be vying with Iker Casillas for the number one shirt as they play in Group D alongside Czech Republic (Monday), Turkey (June 17) and Croatia (June 21).
