Bayelsa has no Perm Sec in federal service - PDP
The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has
alleged that no indigene of the state has been appointed a Permanent
Secretary in the federal service under the administration of President
Muhammadu Buhari.
It also expressed shock at the exclusion of the state from the list of
ambassadorial nominees the President presented to the Senate last
Thursday for confirmation.
The party blamed the development on the attitude of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement, the state PDP Chairman, Deacon Cleopas Moses, said
recent would-be ambassadors’ list sent to the Senate without any
representation from Bayelsa was a clear indication of the personal
grudge the APC-led Federal Government has for the state.
Moses faulted the federal government’s management of the nation’s
economy, describing it as largely responsible for the failure of several
states to pay workers’ salaries and meet other financial obligations.
He urged the Federal Government to explain to Nigerians whether Bayelsa
has no career diplomat eligible to be appointed as an ambassador and
the non-appointment of any indigene of the state as permanent secretary
in the civil service.
According to him, the Bayelsa chapter of the APC is largely
responsible for the development because of the fear of being defeated
in the last governorship election.
The PDP chairman recalled that Governor Seriake Dickson drew attention
to the ill-treatment of the state when the Head of Service of the
Federation visited the state.
