Arsenal to complete Vardy signing in 24 hours
Jamie Vardy has agreed terms with Arsenal and will officially sign with the Gunners in the next 24 hours, according to multiple reports.
Football Insider reports that the Leicester and England striker is set to put pen to paper on a £120,000-a-week deal.
It had been revealed on Friday that Arsenal had triggered the forward’s £20million release clause earlier this week.
And now it looks as though Vardy — currently on England duty at the European Championships in France — is set for a move to the Emirates and a bumper pay-day to go with it.
The former Fleetwood man — who cost Leicester just £1m — is on around £80,000-a-week at the King Power Stadium.
But Wenger and Co have offered to boost his pay packet once again.
They have begun formal negotiations after triggering Vardy’s release clause at Leicester City.
Arsenal are now expecting to get the deal all in place and completed by Monday well before England start their Euros campaign.
Vardy, 29, wants a four year deal worth around £120,000-a-week which is double his current Leicester contract.
But it is understood Arsene Wenger has given the go-ahead and Arsenal are looking to move quickly to stop any other clubs coming in.
Leicester are desperate to keep him, and may even offer him bigger terms but his representatives have been hawking him round and he looks set to go.
Vardy’s buyout clause is only open to Champions League clubs and no one else has made an acceptable offer.
