Abramovich will be smiling on Conte capture
Chelsea owner, Roman Abramovich is not caught smiling on so many occasions but right now the Russian billionaire will be grinning from ear to ear after Antonio Conte led an Italian team, given no chance at the start of Euro 2016, to defeat the more fancied Spanish team.
Chelsea snagged Conte before the start of the Euros and the Italian has proved in France that he is blessed with sure tactical astuteness after beating more fancied teams like Belgium and Spain.
The last time the Azzurris beat La Furia Roja at a major tournament was 1994 and Conte was in Italy’s starting 11 that day.
He again masterminded a class tactical display that meant Spain were forced to feed on scraps. It could have been a more damaging defeat if Italy had not wasted at least three clear scoring chances.
This display would ensure that Conte is given most of the players he wants to sign as he tries to resuscitate the Blues after a very dismal EPL season, in which they ended in 10th place.
