Manchester United: Why Mounriho’s unveiling has been delayed
Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho in the mix for a big deal in Turkey
Reports suggest the delay in Jose Mourinho’s announcement
as the new Manchester United boss is down to the difference in
sponsorship deals of the Portuguese coach and the club. While Manchester have a sponsorship deal with car manufacturers Chevrolet, Mourinho has an endorsement deal with sports car manufacturer Jaguar.
Mourinho is believed to have agreed a three-year contract worth £60million to become Old Trafford boss on Tuesday.
But negotiations over image rights are still ongoing and must be resolved before the contract can be signed, reports Sky Sports.
The Portuguese’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, are meeting in London for face-to-face talks over the remaining unresolved issues in contract negotiations.
These include a number of image rights issues, which must be resolved before a contract can be signed, such as Mourinho’s commercial deal with Jaguar – a conflict of interest due to United’s sponsorship with car-maker Chevrolet.
