Man, 48, in court for defiling 9-yr-old girl

A 48-year-old, Richard Akinsiku, has been docked for allegedly defiling a 9-year-old girl (names withheld). Akinsiku who lives at Fawole Lane, Obanikoro, was yesterday brought before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos where he is currently facing a charge of rape.

Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Osayande Anthonia, told the court that the accused committed the offence at about 5pm on May 9 in his living room where he allegedly enticed the nine-yearold co-tenant’s daughter with biscuits and raped her. This contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. Anthonia said the incident was reported at Pedro Police Station, while the accused was immediately apprehended.

The accused denied the charge but in her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Ekpaye Nwachukwu, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
