“The fans, the media, everybody wanted me to have this testimonial, so we are putting it together,” Yobo said on his visit back to Everton last month. “I had a great career, great memories, so it’s going to be an enjoyable day for me. I’m going to put the boots on – I’ve been out through injury for a while but I can still play!
“Jay-Jay Okocha and Kanu are going to play, so it’s going to be a great game – a team filled with stars against my national side.
“There are going to be some surprises, some other big names. People are coming to my country to honour me, so I couldn’t ask for more. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
According to organizers of the Yobo Testimonial, soccer stars like John Terry, Didier Drogba, John Obi Mikel, Andre Ayew and Sulley Muntari among many others will be in action on Friday at the Adokiye Amasiemaka Satdium on Friday.
