DSS arrests 5 over kidnap of SSS personnel, 3 others in Rivers
The Department of State Service (DSS) has had a harvest of arrests
following the apprehension by the Rivers State command of the agency of
five members of a gang suspected to have kidnapped its personnel.
The Abia state command of the agency also nabbed suspected killers of
two Abia State University students. The suspects arrested in Rivers
include, Justice Onyekachi, Chidi Christian Nwokoma, Precious Ndidi
Alali, Gift Onyegbule Ogbonna and Uche Success Nwokocha.
The suspects were also said to be allegedly involved in a kidnap and
murder case in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. Among the arrested suspects is a
female and four males. The suspects allegedly kidnapped the DSS
personnel, Charles Dimkpa, who was former Chief Security Officer to
former Governor of the State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, at his home in
Rukpokwu, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on April 28, 2016. One Edward
Aderejo, Chigozie Igbokwe and Stanley Ogbonna Njoku, a journalist with a
radio station in Owerri, Imo State was also allegedly kidnapped by the
suspects.
The AUTHORITY on Saturday gathered that luck ran out of the kidnap
suspects when DSS operatives took them by surprise, stormed their
hideout on May 5, along Ahoada/Omoku arrested them and rescued the four
victims.
However, the suspects who were brought to the State Magistrate court
today, could not face trial. But a reliable source from the DSS told The
AURHORITY on Saturday that they would be formally charged to court for
proper prosecution.
