Abia teachers receive training to enhance learning, security in schools
With the rising insecurity problems in the country teachers in Abia
State primary schools are undergoing training on security in order to
ensure the safety of children in the primary school system in the
state.
To this end, a non-governmental organisation, Precious Kids Education
Empowerment (PKEE), which packaged the programme has flown in a team of
experts for the training programme.
The President of the foundation, Mrs Vivian Peters, told journalists in
Umuahia yesterday that her NGO has made it a point of duty to retrain
Abia primary school teachers, upgrade their skills and keep them on
alert on the security of children under their care.
“We are very concerned about the security of the kids”, she said,
adding that teachers would be put through on all the necessary areas
that they would require to protect children while in schools.
She said that the training programme was tailored towards the needs of
Abia State and anchored on five subjects which also include classroom
management, teacher-student relationship, first aid and security alert.
The PKEE President said that a total number of 120 teachers including
the education secretaries carefully selected from across the three
senatorial zones would be trained at a selected centre in each of the
senatorial zones.
