Police deploy DIG, AIG, 3CPs and 25,000 officers for Edo election

To ensure a hitch-free polls in the Edo gu­ber polls on Satur­day, the Acting Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris, has deployed a Dep­uty Inspector General of Police (DIG), an Assistant In-spector General of Po­lice (AIG) and three Com­missioners of Police (CPs) to supervise the elec-tion.
The IGP also deployed over 25,000 police men to the state.
The Force Public Rela­tions Officer, Don Awun­ah, in a statement yesterday said the IGP is de-voted to ensuring that the election is conducted in a peaceful and secure atmosphere in line with the electoral laws of Nigeria.
According to the state­ment, “These Police per­sonnel comprises the Police Mobile Force (PMF), the Counter Terrorism Units (CTU), the Anti bomb Squad (EOD), the Marine Police, conven-tional po­licemen, the Armament Unit, personnel from Force Criminal Intelligence and Investiga-tion Department (FCIID), Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) and the Sniff­er Dog Section.
“In addition, the Police aerial surveillance heli­copters and gun boats, 10 additional Armoured Per­sonnel Carriers (APC) and 550 patrol vehicles will be deployed to cover all the polling units, rack centres, collating centres, riverine areas and difficult terrains”.
