Nigeria will overcome recession - Minister
The Minister of State for Education, Prof Anthony Anwuka has said that the current economic woes ravaging the country will soon end because the federal Government is making frantic efforts to ensure that the ailing economy bounces back.
The minister stated that the current pains was anticipated, saying “soon, the strategies put in place by President Muhammadu Buhari will soon yield results, and Nigerians will have reasons to rejoice.
Prof Anwuka gave the assurance in Owerri on Monday at a ceremony put together by the Senate of Imo State University, Owerri, (IMSU) to honour him and three other Professors of the institution who are currently serving as Vice-Chancellors of three universities in the country.
The three others honoured are Prof C. B. IIwuchukwu, Vice Chancellor, Tansian University, Anambra State; Prof C. U. Nwajiuba, Vice Chancellor of Federal University, Ebonyi State and Prof C. U. Okorofor, the Vice Chancellor of Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State.
He urged Nigerians to be patient with the federal government and live within their means adding, “Nigeria will bounce back again. The current adjustments are painful but I want to promise that the recession is but a temporary thing.”
He stated that one of the best ways to end the recession quickly is to encourage and patronise made in Nigeria products.
