This is war! Moyes in fierce battle with Everton

David Moyes is set to tackle his former club Everton over the capture of Christian Benteke, according to reports.
The Liverpool striker is set to quit the Kop, as it increasingly appears he doesn’t have a future under manager Jurgen Klopp and city rivals Everton as well as Sunderland, who are now managed by former Everton boss David Moyes are reported to be in the mix.

Everton are looking at getting the Belgium striker in the event they lose Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea, while Sunderland are also looking to strengthen after narrowly escaping relegation last term.
Benteke is valued at £30m by Liverpool, but Everton will have no problems matching that fee if Lukaku leaves, as Chelsea are reported to have tabled a bid of £65m.
Crystal Palace is another club that is reported to be interested in Benteke, and were willing to meet his £120,000-a-week salary but baulked at Liverpool’s £30m asking price.
Sunderland may however be willing to match the fee, but must contend with his former club, who appears to be richer and have a better prospect in the league.
And Moyes has already admitted that they must make signings ahead of the new season.
“There’s no doubt we have to make signings and I believe we definitely will do,” he was quoted on the Daily Mail.
“We were never off the phone last week. It was constant apart from the training to see what we could do. It was more to get the information before we made any actions.
“I think it’s well documented that we’ve only got one centre-forward really in Jermain Defoe – we’ve got others who can do the job at other times. But I would like to strengthen in most areas if it comes up.”
