Mourinho hoping to avoid sluggish start

Jose Mourinho is confident Manchester United will start the season strongly starting with the Community Shield clash with Leicester City on Sunday.
The Red Devils begin their season against the Premier League champions at Wembley in the usual season curtain raiser and Mourinho is determined to avoid a similar start to what he endured at Chelsea last season.

The Portuguese manager gave the then Premier League champions an extra week off to celebrate their title triumph the previous season and it backfired as the players returned unfit, which in turn caused a poor start to the season.
He couldn’t last the season as he was fired by December with Chelsea 16th on the table and he is hoping to avoid a repeat this time.
“Everything is important. But our pre-season was strange,” Mourinho was quoted by The Sun when asked about the importance of the game against Leicester.
“It was good for some players but not enough for others. The number of matches was not enough. The match not played against City was really bad for us.
“The week of work I can change and say the week of no work in China was really bad for us, so we need to train and play.
“We need minutes for the players. We need to train against other teams like against Everton and Galatasaray, but that is over.
“Now you have no chance against other teams. Now we have Leicester and it is not a training session. It is a game.”
