CR7 promise financial aid for wildfire victims
Portugal football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has once again showed his big heart as he has promised financial aid to victims of the wildfire that engulfed his native Madeira.
The 31-year-old also called on the head of the regional government Miguel Albuquerque to pledge his support.
According to reports by the Marca: “There is speculation that the blaze, which started outside the capital, may have been started intentionally and the wind has seen it spread rapidly.
“Three people have died so far and and more than 300 have been injured, and it now threatens the historic districts of Funchal.
“The Portuguese government in Lisbon said on Tuesday that they would be assisting their regional counterparts.”
Ronaldo wrote on his official instagram page: “It is with a sadness in my heart that I’m watching what is happening in Madeira (and in other parts of the country). A lot of strength to all, and a thank you to the fire department who have the courage to risk their lives to save many others. I’m with you!”
Ronaldo returned to Real Madrid training after just a month on the sidelines due to a knee injury he picked up during the Euro 2016 final between Portugal and France.
