City players not as good as Bayern – Guardiola
One of the core principles of a side managed by Pep Guardiola is a possession-based games that starts from the goalkeeper – the reason why Joe Hart is suddenly looking for a new club.
But the new City manager has admonished his players to play it safe because they are not of the calibre of his former players at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
“In this league teams will press and suffocate Man City and, without being disrespectful, they are not Bayern Munich or Barcelona, they are not that great on the ball.”
“If they start playing along the back and giving the ball to the goalkeeper they will have a long season.
“It’s alright abroad where teams sit off and wait until you get to halfway or 30 yards from goal, then everybody starts pressing.”
So Guardiola will be expecting a battle at the Brittania in the afternoon kickoff on Saturday as he seeks his second with Manchester United already on six points after Friday’s 2-0 win over Southampton.
