Bayelsa Sanitation Authority arrests 37 defaulters
The Bayelsa State Environmental Sanitation Authority over the weekend
arrested not less than 37 offenders for violating sanitation laws
during the monthly sanitation exercise, even as the management has
arraigned them before the sanitation court for trial.
The Chairman of the Sanitation Authority, Hon Robert Enogha, who
disclosed this while speaking with journalists shortly after monitoring
the exercise, said the offenders would be prosecuted, while some would
be liable to pay fine.
Enogha said further that no stone would be left unturned to enforce
compliance with sanitation laws because, according to him, clean
environment is the bedrock of healthy living, which would in turn
produce a productive workforce in both public and private sector.
He pointed out that no fewer than two trucks and two saloon cars were
impounded, even as he enjoined Bayelsans to stop loitering on
sanitation hours and spend quality time to clean drains, clear weeds
and dispose their refuse properly.
Enogha, who called for attitudinal change towards the monthly exercise,
evacuated athletes training at the Samson Siasia stadium and warned
against sporting activities at the stadium during the monthly sanitation
exercise in the state.
