Militants block Ogun Dep Gov, SSG
Daring militants terrorising communities in Ogun State yesterday
blocked the state Deputy Governor, Yetunde Onanuga and the Secretary to
the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, during an on-the-spot assessment
of attacks on Ogun communities.
The state team led by the Deputy Governor was in Ibafo Abute in Obafemi
Owode Local Government Area of the state to assess the level of the
damage in the community where no fewer than 10 persons have been
reportedly killed by the militants.
The team which included all the security chiefs had earlier visited
five communities of Elepete, Magbon, Igbo-Olomu, Imuti in Imushin area
of Ogijo in Sagamu Local Government Area of the state which have been
sacked by the militants.
The security chiefs included the state Commissioner of Police,
represented by the Deputy Com-missioner of Police in-charge of
Operations, Bello Makwashi, Director, Directorate of State Security
Service, Kabir Sanni and the Brigade Commander of 35 Artillery Brigade,
Alamala, Brigadier General Muhammed Danwalis.
The team was, however, prevented from assessing Ebute-Ojora when the
militants started shoot-ing from the creek, a development which forced
the state team to retreat.
